This is a 64" NTN Osage recurve with Purple Heart tip overlays and Timber Rattler skins. I was fortunate to get the rattler while on temporary duty at Fort Rucker, AL. I split the skin down the middle so it's the same snake on both limbs. This is my first attempt at a recurve and frankly I don't know if I'll ever out do it. This bow shoots like a dream. It's 60# @ 27" After finishing the tiller Grant, Greg, Mark and I shot it off the hand and loved it. Grant put the first three arrows in the 10 ring and called it a fine shooting bow. The next morning I took it to the woods with no finish on it, no handle nor tip overlays and took a nice young buck that ran into a tree after being shot and broke both antlers off. The purple heart and purple leather handle grip seem to bring out a nice purple tint in the skins as well. I made the bow during the radiant colors of Tennessee Autumn thus the name Autumn Blaze.

An outstanding osage weapon! I'm prett doubtful that you ~ or anyone else for that matter ~ will ever outdo the Autumn Blaze!
Way to set the example ;)

Wow Jimmy, when you get started on something...lookout! You really did a fine job on this bow, I really like it! It shoots right where you aim and a very flat trajectory! I think all of us that shot it were hitting well right off the bat.
The skins and tips turned out nice as well! This bow should serve you well on your tour of duty.

Great looking bow Jimmy :)

This may well be the best looking I've ever seen on PA. Beautiful, beautiful work. Congratulations
-
Nice bow Ranger. Looks like the bottom limb bends a little more than the top limb at full draw, but other than that its a sweet heart. Nice job. ;D
-
real real nice looking bow you got there, very classy looking. already got it hard to work...before you even had it finished. great job - Ryan
-
It would be hard to improve on that. Are the limbs symetrical or asymetrical?
-
That's a real beauty Ranger, that timber rattler looks great on it. You know it's a good one since you already killed a deer with it before it was even finished!

Outstanding workmanship, obviously shoots as good as it looks. I like the name also.

You got a great deer with a great bow! Congratulations. Jawge

Wow! Jimmy, You cleaned that one up real nice. And she's a natural born killer.
-
very beautiful, just like all of the other bows you make. :)
-
Sooo......let me get the story straight. You put down your cabinet scraper, grabbed a handful of arrows (or maybe just one), headed into the woods, whence you killed a deer. Thence you proceeded back to the shop and finished 'er up, knowing that the thing was a great weapon. What an awesome story man! Way to be! Dave

beautiful bow man, awsome job..... nice deer too!!!!!! had five right by me sat. but they have gotten real smart in my neck of the woods lots of pressure.
-
Great looking bow, And nice deer. That is quite a story. Hit the woods with a bow still in the stages of finishing and come home with a deer. You can't make that kind of stuff up. Congats. ;D Maybey I should give that method a try.
-
my god, you're on a roll, that bows an absolute beauty though, the purpleheart looks outstanding with the osage as well, great deer too -jimmy

Thank all of you for your kind comments. It's been one of those years where things kind of just turned out for me from hunting to bending those tips. Hopefully that will carry on into the coming year in Afghanistan. This is my last bow for a while due to the deployment but I got my hard case in the mail yesterday and I'll be taking this bow to combat with me. I hope to set up an archery range on the FOB for the guys. Again thanks for all the kind words.

Just thought I'd post my picture of the bow's second blood letting...remember my blood was the first this bow drew when the fletching got me while shooting! ;)
