new arrows for the TN bow shoot in a couple of weeks
« on: July 01, 2011, 02:05:25 pm »
Here are a couple of arrows I just made.  The shafts are made from red oak that I cut and shaped from staves by hand.  The fletchings are 5.5 inches long and are from the spring gobbler I got this year. I used the tail feather as the cock feather.

them look good! And aughta shoot good. Going to be hard to spot though if you go over the target. I've lost more than one out there :-X ::).

Should I spray paint the nocks white? What do you suggest?

I miss all the time lol.  Maybe blaze orange is in order and a string like bow fishing  ;D. I have no idea what the terrain  looks like where we will be shooting.   maybe I should make more arrows.

I used white appliance epoxy paint. Seems to work good on the cane

i have some boo arrows with grey goose and a barred cock feathers and darkened shafts and they are crazy hard to find if you miss, i also use  white appliance epoxy paint to paint my nocks and down to the back of my feathers, it helps alot.

You could make it a little more challenging and paint em all od green ;). Your good if ya don't plan on missing but yea, some white or red/orange somewhere wouldn't hurt. Lots of underbrush there - green and brown.
