I lived in Texas Hill country for two years.  In Utah we have a different word for Texas hills--Flatland >:D.
Texas does have the best brisket anywhere, though.

I consider myself a true afficianado of barbecue in all of it's glorious forms and manners.  Texas brisket stands out from the crowd, mmm-hmm.

Here in SE Texas we got slews and bayous, and a few creeks. baygauls is a term for lower areas between ridges too.
Here in the last few years it seems that pipelines have become the most common terrain feature we have.

You know what I love? When a thread goes off topic, and no one cares  >:D

I also love brisket. And ribs, and any other meat that has been at least warmed by an open flame.

If you think of the original question of why this is called one thing in one area and another name in another area, comparing relative qualities of regional barbecue styles is parallel and quite close to the original track.

I bet the Kansas City guys and the Texas guys and the Memphis guys would have something to say about that.  >:D

Oh, I flat love it when folks start argueing over who makes better barbecue.  I just egg them on, buy them more adult beverages, stoking the fires.  When the time is right, I offer my backyard for a contest.  I will provide some side dishes and they gotta show and tell!

Anyone want a barbeque contest? You can use my house. I'll bring the cold ones!

We have springs that go into branches that go into creeks that go into rivers that go into the oceans , gully's are a wash out and hollows are sort of low point of rolling hills, also lot's here say button buck instead of fawn, or yearling doe instead of doe fawn WHY because it sounds better. ;) ;D ;D Back on subject, not sure the answer but here in TN. we count them all if they are over and inch and longer that they are wide at the beam, by the way we call eye guards brow tines and yes we count them also.  ;)

Don't have to worry about the horns till the time comes anyway.Shoot does if your state allows it.They're awful good eating and their hide is just right for clothes or leather projects.
