some work from today
« on: March 28, 2016, 10:31:41 pm »
Wish I had taken a before pic of the chunk of novaculite, it was thick blocky and cracked. But, I did get a couple of the major flake removals stacked back together. The little flake point is a piece of high grade Staved Rock Chert which is rather rare.

It's some kinda cool to see you guys create a tool from ... well ... a ugly piece of rock.
Congrats!
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Thanks guys.

Aaron: the glove is something I made myself but you could just as easily cut the fingers off a glove and sew or glue on the thicker leather on the palm and the thin flap that protects the hand from detaching flakes.
