I was not real happy with my nebo point but it did have a fairly good median ridge on both sides so decided to go for it , How to make a Cumberland in two easy steps, 1. flute one side half way due to a slight dip in ridge. 2. Flute second side almost to the tip, clean up base and voila a Cumby at last, Thanks for lookin, feel free to comment either way . Bob

Lyman, I used a Sollberger, and have been playing with this for quite awhile, Cumberlands have been my Achilles heel so to say. I hope something clicked for me on this one, Be prepared to break a lot of material, preform set up is real important to get consist. I don't get much help on this one at knappins.

Bob: That is one fine looking flute. J.B. was a good friend of mine back in the 60s. I have a bunch of his points and his math notes on the building of the jig and other things. The flutes he was able to make on fulsom and clovis points are beautiful and thin. Since switching to Windows ten I cannot send pictures via email or I would take a picture and show you several of his fluted points. I never learned how to use the jig--too many broken attempts. Wow that's a wide flute. I'm amazed that didn't break I still don't have the courage or the skill for that

Bjrogg, not sure if flute is that wide or appears wide due to trimming edges up close to flute, flute just over 1/2" at widest point. Joe sure wished I could see your pictures of jig and points. Don, that's a great idea on next months point

Nice flutes, Bob, now get one of those monsters Jessie made.
I was glad Joe pulled out his collection of Sollberger points the last day at the Classic to show me before I left. I don't think I've ever seen points fluted on both sides as thin as those Fulsoms.Some of the bases were translucent.

Eddie, I am a very fortunate man. I just happen have a special Jesse point, it's not one of his monster Cumberlunds but he called it a Northumberlund, I gave him some pcs of Onondago and he gave me back a beautiful fluted full length one side of said pt. It is the center pc of my trade points case. I believe Jesse could knap a cement block and make it look perfect. Bob
