. . . something I put off for an overly long time : a “classic” Mughal thumb ring . . .

It’s made of Quebracho wood (otherwise known as the “axebreaker” wood),
and finished of Tung oil & beeswax .

Next stop . . . tomorrow I try it out & adjust for string clearance !

It feels good already.

Nice and tight fitting . . .

Pretty. When I first started shooting I made one from pvc. If I could get used to shooting from opposite side of bow it would be great. I gave up. Mine wasn't nearly as nice looking as yours.

It's a different style release. It'd be a lot easier to show you than explain it to you. You put the ring on your thumb. You grip the string by holding it with your thumb. The ring keeps string from digging into your thumb and is a smooth release. You wrap thumb around string and hold close with index finger. When you want to release just relax index finger. They work pretty slick but because of the direction they twist the string you put arrow on opposite side of bow.
