I have a piece about 15" wide tapering to 10" wide around 20-24" away.  I don't want you to be disappointed, so here's about the worst of it in my opinion.
It's slightly greasy, has a bit of a smell, and there are a lot of blood stains on the flesh side.
However, there are no holes, the hide is thick, from a buck taken last November I believe.  It is from my first attempt at cleaning a hide, but I think it's a decent job; It would smell a lot worse by now if there was any fat or meat left on it.  It's from the side of the deer; I took strips from the back for bow backings;  That was the primary purpose of the project.
