Snake skin, Rawhide, Silk,Bark. Pics would help me decide. Like your input, wanna try something different besides Arguing  with dell ;D

Phil, I personally don't mind the look of just a sinew backing but for extra protection snake skins or fish skins or cherry or birch bark will help to keep moisture out and add to the beauty of the bow.

Ak, do you mean you want to cover the sinew or use something different? I don't think there is a substitute for sinew. Plenty of alternate backing though. Steve

I guess I prefer to put a coat of paint over the sinew.  Black paint is my favorite. ;D

I want to cover the Sinew so I can a better paint Design, Real hard to paint over Sinew and I was going to use Hide glue. :)

Ed Scott uses,Thinned rawhide,on just about every sinew backed bow he makes.He does this primarily for artwork.

I would think rawhide if you are going to paint something on it.I am pretty sure if you smooth it up with hideglue it will crack and pop as you draw the bow. :)

Thanks for the Tips, That Hide glue does like to crack, I think thats why I like using The TB3 or2 but thats not Primitive.Have a good weekend.Phillip

Phil, I have used TBIII over sinew for moisture protection. You can do it with or without the rawhide.

heck, brown paper (as in a grocery bag, for instance) glued over sinew would be simple enough,,especially if you plan on painting the back.
