Knapping newbie draws first blood
« on: February 10, 2013, 05:35:56 pm »
Started my endeavors as a knapper today. I acquired some scrap glass to practice on until I can gather or order my stone. I made my own boppers and a pressure flaker and went to town on the glass.  .  . it breaks in the wrong spot a lot :o. I kept trying various angles and pressures trying to get longer flakes. I was just starting to think I was making progress when it started raining on me. I have to say, I'm gonna like this. As I cleaned up, I did notice I was leaking a little, just as everyone said I would!

When  you donate blood to Lithic Gods, and then go back to do it again...... you are hooked!  It is now in...... uh..... your blood!  Keep at it!

Keep some abnd aids and super glue handy.  Those tiny flakes just love to stick to blood so its better to get it cleaned up as soon as you can.  Then draw more blood beside it.

Yep, I have one that has been in my left ring finger since 2004. I still feel it every now & then. It starts itching when therea knap-in coming.   Nice point, the cut is just a part of the game.  Tower

Here is another thing to watch out for... Those little glass flakes like to hide in things like pant cuffs, shoe laces, bottom of shoes, etc.... and they wait until you are back in the house and jump off. Don't know how old you are or if you are married or not, but those little flakes sole purpose in life is to find your other half's bare feet. When that happens, you will have a whole new set of issues to deal with.
