Amazing discovery from ishi stick (picture added)

Look at what I learned from my ishi stick. Antler left in osage ishi stick turns bright lemon yellow. This gives me all kinds of ideas....is this cool or what?

That gives me the idea that saw dust ur shavings of that wood could be used to make a dye.

It makes a bright yellow dye.  Be sure to add a cup of vinegar for every two gallons of water when you are boiling out the sawdust/shavings.  It will work as a mordant, or dye fixative.  However, do not expect the dye to be colorfast in the long run.  It fades in the sun, but modern detergent is even worse on it.
