A small victory
« on: January 21, 2024, 05:09:22 pm »
Got back at it today. Broke my first one, so I bopped another piece off a rock and went to work with my ishi stick and pressure flaker and ended up with this point. Not great but I’m calling it a victory.

I used my ishi stick for the first time in a long time and I was getting much longer flakes than I remember getting before. At least on the obsidian pieces it. Better on the Georgetown too but, not as consistently as the obsidian.

Muskyman if I’m not mistaken there is a flint knapping meet in New York to. At the Letchworth State Park. (Grand Canyon of the east) I don’t know if anyone has information on it, but I was hoping to make it there someday. Sounds like a pretty good place to visit anyway.

I’m sure Flint Ridge would be great to

Flint ridge is only about 90 minutes from my house. Not sure how long it takes to get to New York but I probably will pass on that one. I have been planning on going to nethers farm anyway, to try and get some flint. I’ve been talking with my wife about going to Yosemite park next fall maybe. That’s a pricey trip for my family. Four of us. So I probably should conserve my money for that.

Flint Ridge I’m sure would be great. I was thinking you might be closer to the New York one. If I had to pick Flint Ridge would be my choice.
