UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
« on: December 01, 2008, 09:25:03 pm »
Well, today was a really nice day here in central oregon, I had the afternoon off so I decided to work on a few projects. I had a syringa take-down bow I started in august, I strung the bow and was checking the tiller, adjusting the limbs as needed, then proceeded to excercise the bow on the tiller tree, I flexed the bow several times checking the bend in the limbs, drawing it to 26" a couple of times then BAM!!!. ???I covered my head to avoid fall-out. the upper limb had failed. bummed out, I turned to flintknapping where I proceeded to snap three arrowheads in half after getting them thinned and near completion :P, I decided to try a larger flake and was making a blade about 31/2" long and about 11/2" wide, I had a nice platform to make a large flute down the center, I supported the blade and smacked it which gave me a flute over 1/2 the length ;D cool! I prepared the other side and repeated dressing the platform, supporting the blade and delivering the blow, the smack sounded kinda funny ??? I opened my hand to reveal not one, but four pieces >:(  :o :'(  good thing I dont do this for a living.

I feel your pain.  Somedays nothing seems to go right.  The best thing to do is stop and do something totally unrelated until the bad MOJO leaves you.

Most of my stuff breaks when I'm pushing the limits...of wood, stone, my skill, etc.  I've been breaking a lot of stuff too (lately). >:(

A habit of breaking stuff is like getting the hiccups....you can't dwell on it or it gets worse....you have to think of something else for a while.
