Is there anyway besides using a moisture meter to check the moisture or at least a good estimation of moisture in a stave? I know 9% is about perfect...
Thanks

Montana, you can weigh your stave and monitor it's weight loss until it stops loosing weight for 3 days.
9% to 11% is a good m/c for most woods but for hickory, go to 6% to get the best out of your bow. In Montana, too much moisture shouldn't be a problem. Not enough moisture can cause bow failures.
