Hand drill fire vid "updated"
« on: May 10, 2009, 08:31:34 pm »
Thanks Rick for showing me how to do this and giving me the materials. I found it esier to make the fire than it is to get it on video ;D I had 4 attempts before this and each time the camera didnt work or the memory got to full. This time I erased other files to make room but was disapointed when I got insid and found the grand finale was cut off. This was a bad attempt but ended in a nice big fire and thats all that counts in my book ;D Im addicted now. Thanks Rick. I'll try to get some files off the memory card so I can get the whole thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZrUEupMGK0

Awesome ;D.  You made it look easy,  great idea to put it up as a video.   As far as your neighbors thinking you are crazy.  I think you earned that label when you brain tanned that Buff hide this winter. ;)

excellent video. only bit of advice i have is to relax a little bit. i do demos for groups and at one event did close to 3 dozen handdrill fires. they came so easy because i was talking the groups rather than paying attention to the board. now i just take my time. especially with some of the tougher drill and board combos i use. congrats on the new skill . once it comes easy do it wet or in the afternoon with a green drill you just cut  that morning . wild rose is a good drill but will definetly tech you some patience. and toughen the hands up to if you dont take the thorns off >:D

Thanks Rick . I never actually finished the buff hide but I will  :)
Jamie yah good advise. I forget to breathe and get all panicky ;D My next feat will be to get my own materials and start experimenting.

Great Video Jesse.....but if that was me there would be more than the Birds and cars as background noise....I would have caught my Hair on Fire leaning in that close....and they would have had to call the Paramedics for Me!!!!!!!

Cool Jesse! Looks like you have it down pat. That'll have to be one of my next projects too :).

That was us,  Jesse managed to get a coal on Fri.  it was really tough conditions if you remember. ;D  The humidity will really hurt your chances of getting a coal.  Not to mention I left my stuff out in the rain on Thurs night. :P
