As yall know I ant much of a napper ,but the good news is I have good friends that are
[ Jesse/JohnT ]  JohnT hooked me up with a good selection of heads this year,all about
160 grain and sharp and ready to mount.I have some Hickory shafts that these are going on
as soon as I get the fletched.Hope you like them.

how long and wide are those? my hunting points come out much lighter and i'm wondering if i should weight them or use bigger ones. just weighte one at 80 grains. 7/8 wide and 1 3/4 long. curious what dimentions and weight others use. I was thinking of sneaking a lead shot into the haft to get the weight up on mine. the ones pictured above would not be legal in my state - they'd be considered "barbed" because the notches angle towards the tip. the one attached to this post is what I use . it's "gold sheen" obsidian from glass buttes OR and was used to harvest a doe last sept 1.

Pappy, them heavy weights on the tips of some hickories? I did that one year and all worked well out to 15 yds,then I had to elevate a bit? ;) I think mine weighed in at around 800grns. :o

One thing about shooting heavy heads on heavy shafts......they will absolutly blow through the other side.

Tim, I was wondering about the weight too with the points weighing 160 and with hickory shafts...but I bet Pappy gets plenty of close shots.

I like the heavy heads and have always shot them even with steel.The complete arrow weighs in at about 650 or so. They shoot great out to 15/20 and then you are right they drop pretty quick,Most
of my shots are 5 to 15 yards anyway.In fact in all the deer I have taken over the years I don't think I have killed but 3 or 4 over 15 yards. Aaron I ant sure but I think they are about 2 inches by 1 inch.
I will measure them and let you know.I got the arrows sealed last night and ready to fletch.I hope to get them mounted and test shot this weekend. :) Knap them are some fine looking arrows,they should do the trick. :)

Wondering how  many shots you  are getting  with  these  superb  stone/glass  points before  they break,  must  be  heartbreaking  when  you  shatter  such  good  work:)

It is if you shatter them on a rock in the dirt,it ant if you shatter them on the rib cage of a deer. ;) :)

Got one mounted this weekend, Had a lot going on so didn't get time for the others,I should get them finished up soon.This is Hickory shaft,glued on with pine pitch and rapped with Back strap sinew.
I did go over the sinew after it dried with tru oil.I need to test shoot it and it should be ready for the hunt. :)
