Rick,

Awesome story, man. I'm happy for ya and also commend you on not sticking the doe with her children watching. And I believe you were rewarded nicely for it. I also agree about the hawk. Always listen to the animals and never doubt what you feel when you see them, especially when they stare peacefully at you. You hunted the way a person ought to and it was your first primitive deer kill at that. Pictures or not, this hunt was perfect!

Thanks guys for all the kind words.  The hawk was really something special.  I can put pics up off of my wifes camera, but these are coming from email via my friends phone camera.   So the wifey will have to help me with this one.  (way beyond my capabilities). 

nocams- I used a Zwikey?  I think,  They are green two blade heads.   Next year I hope to use some stone points, but I have a way to go on my knapping skills.  I want to make sure they are up to the task of killing cleanly.  So I really need to keep chipping.

Rick , Congradulations sounds as if you had a great hunt, an the hawk spirit  was great. I try really hard to listen to my instincts an it sure doesn,t  hurt when you have a helper like the hawk. Later Bob

a big congrats man, and sounds like one of those hunts that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. one of those things that shows old suspicions can sometimes be true.

Congrats and great story! Still waiting for my first trad bow kill. the liver/lung/ heart shot is a devestating combo, as you witnessed. If you think you were hooked on PA before, I guess now you're toast! ;D

I have heard stories about deer that got away that were bigger than they started out .. but this is the first time i saw one that didn't get away... LOL.. great job bro.. HAWK
