Never tiller a bow when angry.
« on: November 23, 2009, 06:28:28 pm »
Just today I was in a bad mood and decided to work on a stave. I almost cut clear across the back of the stave. And on top of that to correct that major slip I will have to narrow the other limb to match. Just not a good way to let off steam.

I never touch a Piece of Wood if I have something on My Mind other than Bows....and I never try to get rid of Frustration or Anger by working on One either....just end up making Firewood and Tinder...... :-\

That's why you should always keep a 12" elm log lying around to be split into staves. That'll take out plenty of frustration. :o

I like your idea Okie. I like to get out the drawknife and hog off some wood when I am frustrated.
Everything happens for a reason, sometimes the reason is you made a bad decision.

when your mad find a large oak tree, head down run wide open into it ! your bow stave will still be in great shape !, and you wont remember why you were mad.

It pays to be in the right state of mind when you set off to tiller a bow.

SHOOT 'EM when you're angry >:D, don't try and make 'em.
I'm sure we all have to tell ourselves 'step away from the bow' from time to time.

Set it down, go do something else. Think about it for awhile, but walk away from it when you're mad.
