doing the twist vm

o.k. i am working on a vm stick..i got it too a low brace(first bracing) and i seen i had a twist on one limb...so,#1 WHAT CAUSES TWIST...#2 HOW WOULD YOU GET IT OUT...its mid limb out too the tip...thanks john

John, is the limb twisted while unbraced? If it is, then you can take it out with heat. If not, then you may have more wood on one edge of the limb than the other. In that case you have to take wood off from the other side to even things up.

all right gordon...when unbraced it looks fine..it kind of throw me for a loop...so,i will take more wood off the other side..thanks so much..i knew i had you around for a reason..john

John, the limb will twist toward the weak side. Take wood slowly off the strong side and excercise the limbs between each wood removal session.

Gordons advice is right on. ;)  Sometimes a propeller twist on both limbs will counter balance and equal out if the twist is in the stave.
