I have always thought of using an atlatl.  I have a good friend how has his Ph.D. in Archaic Indian studies.  He makes some really cool atlatls.  It is illegal to hunt game animals in Texas with them, but we have plenty of hogs and rabbits I could try my hand at.   Before I die, Ill have to give it a try.  They are pretty fun to sling, but do seem like they will take some time to get  accurat with.
