Pappy:  Another great post for a cold Monday morning.  Every time I see the pictures of the activity in your shop, I pick up something new, or at least see something that makes me want to ask a question or two.

The vises you use to hold your staves appear to be heavy machinist type vises.  What do you use to pad the jaws.  I see one vise mounted on what looks to be a portable type table.  Is that pretty stable?  It looks like it would move around a lot with the heavy use of a draw knife.

Thanks for the post.

So far, I haven't found any Osage or knappable rock over here.  Embrace the suck

Good looking dog to.Is it a male,I'm looking for a good Man for Sadie.   Pappy
Hey Pappy, are you still looking for a brindle boyfriend for Sadie?  I should have one around the first of the year. Here are some pictures of the last litter. Justin

Fine looking dog justin, not ready for my girl to be with a man just yet, don't know if I could handle another,I am looking for a mate for Hanna ,planing on breeding her next time she come in.Otoe
I put leather strips in the jaws. The portable benches are pretty heavy and don't move much
but for heavy debarking I have a big pipe fitters vice mounted on a frame rail off a truck with
pipe legs and it don't move at all.I use the portable ones mainly for scraping and tiller/finish work.
I'll try and post a picture of the pip fitters vice set up so you can see.I bought it years ago from a pluming co. going out of business for 20 bucks.it has been real handy. We have about 10 portable
one in the shop. :)

Thanks Pappy.

Hey Moderators:  Is there any quick way to get to a particular page of the big strings like "Life is Good".  Since the range of pages shown at the bottom is so small, you have to click through them until you get to one in the middle.  Maybe there is a way, I just don't know how to do it.
