Not to be, Watched him for over an hour and he was only 75 yards from where I shot him,so figured it was pad. Beau slipped out to get my bow,he was gone about and hour and the deer never moved until Beau started back to me.He got up .walked on a little ridge. We gave him 30 minutes or so and follow.Never seen him again and cover a lot of ground, He was definitely a 87,sick to my stomach.  :( Other than that it was a great weekend, lots of deer checked/and ate. Some shop work to boot.
First picture is of the 7 point,I was setting 20 yards behind him. The next are Kevin's bow getting skins and My Mullberry getting sealed. :)

Sorry to hear about that Pappy, but it happens from time to time if you hunt long enough.  Nobody likes losing one.  I had the same thing happen last year at LBL on a big mature doe.  Best remedy for me is to just accept the fact and get back at it. It always stuck with me for sometime though.

Hate to hear about the seven point, Mark, but it still looks like y'all had a great weekend. Maybe if I can get up there I'll bring you some luck.

Congratulations, Dan.

Thanks Guys,aw ya it was a great weekend, not the first I have lost over the years and as bad as I hate to say it,it probably won't be the last, still hard, when it get to where it don't bother me I will quit. :) :) Planning on taking a break for a couple of days, the weather is hot but is supposed to cool of very nicely by the weekend. :) :) I still like a coat or 2 of sealer on Kevin's bow and my Mullberry so I plan on piddling in the shop with that and a few other odds and ends for the next few days, get my head back into it and get after them again. ;) :) :)

Congratulations Dan!  Well deserved, I'm sure.

Pappy as you well know as much time as we spend in the woods, its bound to happen.  We do our duty in covering a lot of ground and putting in the honest efforts of finding them.  Still doesn't take away the gut ache.  I'm still sore about one I lost last year.

Ya I hear ya Matt,it takes a while for sure. Got the LAST [I hope ] coat of sealer on Kevin's bow yesterday and shot it 50 or 60 times, I think it should be good to go,hope to get it headed North next week sometime,Jimmy/GregB and Art were all at the club yesterday, Art brought some old bows from the early 60's to show us, they were also doing some shooting and Greg skinning a deer KeithV gave him so it was a good time just setting and talking about old adventures and new ones to come / skinning deer and shooting bows, very relaxing for me. :) :)
