My knife all glued up. Lots of bows in the works in the shop. Dan is building another one along with Shawn and Mark, Greg is always willing to lend a helping hand as most of the guys down there are. :) Back strap for lunch, yum yum.

Bows and knife scales seemed to be the ticket for the weekend. :) Dan giving me lessons on the wood lathe for the 10th time  ;) :) I am making a prod to use on my hides when I rack them up for stretch. :)

Yes Bob, that is my plan, I have a really big hide and will have trouble breaking it by had , so after seeing Jesse do it in the frame I thought I might give it a try on this big one. Not sure how that will go but we will see. You ever break them on a frame ??  :) I usually do them across my knees or on a cable or rope but concerned I won't be able to give it what it needs because of the size, my arms are pretty short. ;) :) :)

Pappy, I thought maybe that was what you were up to. I have a hefty hickory handle with a 2-1/2" leaf spring mounted on the end that I have used for softening in the frame, looks like a narrow canoe paddle. The only part of frame softening that I didn't like is if you get tired you can't bag it without lacing and re lacing. I have a friend not far from here that hand soften and the for the final push he laces hide up and finishes in the frame, He has a video out that shows him lacing a hide up in under 5 min, defiantly isn't his first rodeo, A word to the wise be careful on edges and thin spots It is easy to poke holes and they get pretty big with the size of prod :( :o The ones that I have done in the frame came out real nice, I just need to become faster at lacing them up ;D I think you will like frame softening sure is a little easier on body. Good Luck and let us know how it works out . Bob
