2nd Turkey down
« on: April 07, 2010, 10:08:25 am »
I got #2 this morning. 19 lb. bird with an 8" beard and 1 1/8" spurs. Roosted them last evening. Set up at 5:10. First gobble at 5:49. Two birds were talking on the roost. They came in about 75 yards away and came looking for me. Bird down at 6:20.

Looks like you are making up for all that lost time you spent in hell!  Also looks like I might be able to make some trades for feathers!  Glad to see you have some good sucess!  Joe

Ha  ;D

Billy - it was a shotgun. I thought out going totally primitive and killing him like that Injun Squaw did in Jeramiah Johnson but I decided against it at the last minute.  ;D  I have been hunting with the bow in the evenings some but this farm is totally pasture. I tried to hunt with a bow in a blind two years ago there and the turkeys just stay away from the blind.

I want to hunt turkeys with you Jimmy, patience isn't one of my strong suits.

Joe - are you coming to the classic?  I have lots of feathers if you'd like to trade. Got any staves?

Ranger:  Yes I am planning on being there.  I have some Myrtle Wood in 4x4 chunks, but don't know if it will make a good core or not.   Am bringing a couple of pieces for Pappy to try!  Have mostly horns for trade!  Joe
