Jesse showed me all his daggers yesterday...said you had to plan ahead several hours in setting up some of the techniques that had to take place. World of experience I'm sure getting to that point of accomplishment!

...That is some awesome work, leapingbare. I have just begun my foray into daggers. My first step was to read DC's book 10 times. Next I traded some obsidian for some " high quality swedish black and blue flint". Once I got the flint I found out why they call it that- that's the color of my leg! I have been spoiled by obsidian! In obsidian, i can take a palm-sized flake with an antler bopper and have finished bifaces up to 16 inches. With this stuff, I have a hard time getting one the size of a quarter and had a heck of a time with a 5 inch dagger.! Any suggestions? For my first dagger, i chose a mini type 3. I got the square cross section handle, but the median ridge was not sharp enough for stitching. the whole thing is 5 inches long. The flint is dark brown, waxy, and translucent in thin section. I believe it's Senonian or Danien. I'm looking foreward to a long painful relationship with my 30 lbs of swedish flint!

SAVE that flint!!
 Thats not bad and that median ridge can be stitched. 1st you need to square up the pommel.. I cant explain on here theres to much. call me (931) 933-0352.

Hey Jesse, looks like your hands are getting a little soft and you need to trim your nails.  ;D ;D  Nice Dagger... love the stitching.  If I remember correctly, I think in one of DC Waldorf's videos, he made the comment that there are only about 10 people in the world that can make that type Dagger. Guess there are 11 now!!!

 Yea I've heard that before too, i only know of 6 people. but I'm sure there will be allot more with his video and book out for anyone to get the knowledge.

Thanks leapingbare- i will call you later today!  Since yesterday i have cleaned up the outline on that "dagger" , thinned it, and tried it out on some o f the smallest trout i ever ate. Also here's a picture of a point showing the color of that black and blue flint.
I am finding that in order to percussion flake that stuff with antler, I have to swing really fast- .
I hope i'm not hijacking your thread with my lame dagger!
