Spine Testin Reed
« on: June 06, 2010, 10:18:23 am »
A lot of Reed grows down here in SW Florida.  I have been experimenting with it. It is Super Light and makes a fast arrow. A 30" arrow with a 65gn point averages about 250gn. Shoots like carbon. Great fer 3D shoots.

Heres my question. It has a pretty radical Bobtail Taper to it, So when I spine test it, do I test in the middle of the shaft or the 26 inches from the nock end? Or the 26 inches from the point?

These are really fun to shoot and I am hooked on em. They are really forgivin, flyin great out of my 40# Osage Self Bow, the same arrows fly equally as well out of my buddy's 50# Howard Hill Bow. I shot em out of my 47# Bamboo/Red Oak bow, and anothher friend shot em with his  60# Black Wider Bow. This set of arrows shot great out of all these different bows. Oh yal, another friend shot em from a 45# Century 21 longbow with the same results. He was so impressed, he is settin  bout makin his own.
