Hickory backed Ipè... full draw added!
« on: September 21, 2010, 06:28:30 pm »
Here is a hickory backed ipè I build recently. The bow is 70" NTN and 50#@29", it is for a big guy who's a beginner archer. He'll build up muscles quickly I'm sure, than the bow will be shortend 2 or 3 inches to gain some pounds. The riser is black walnut, wenge and prune, handle overlay is prune, too, tip overlays are water buffalo horn. Full draw to follow.
Thanks for looking.

PS: the bow was glued up with a bit of setback which makes it looks as if it has a sorta stiff middle section. but actually it does bend near the handle, and the setback helped to keep over an inch of reflex.

Thanks Acker; to have something unique on every bow is a big part of the fun of making them. That's why I like making bows for ladies since they usually honour that more. Man it's 'yes nice how does it shoot', women you see sitting there inspecting every bit of detail everytime they shoot it. It's the artist in me...
But honestly the TRUE beauty of the bow will always be the arc! (That's why I like that one pic of your latest bow Rocco so much)

Thanks youngbowyer, thanks Ken!

Thanks wundabred, it's perfect edge ring, rift sawn I guess that is.

Thanks elk!

Thanks Gordon, you know your word means much to me!
