He is at it again
« on: September 28, 2010, 09:35:40 pm »
Keith Vaughn started the season off with a double on opening morning. Mother natures natural food plot made it possible. When we hung that stand on labor day weekend we knew this 10" twisted hickory tree in a fence line would only give up shots of ten yards or less. We needed the two whiteoaks to be dropping for this setup to work. On Wednesday afternoon just a little sign. But on Saturday morning the stage was set perfect. I'll let him tell the rest but here is the pictures.

Dang, I know who I want to hunt with. I might be able to hit from 10 yards. Good job Keith.

Here the rest of the story. Ran two deer off in the dark going in.  An hour after daylight the 3pt buck came in to eat white oak acorns. He feed around for about 10 mins before he gave me a shot in the only hole I could shoot. Shot him at 5 yards. He went about 100yds. and went down. An hour later a doe and a 5pt came in and feed around for a long while before the doe stepped in the hole and shot her at 4yds. Spine shot her, didn't go far. The 5pt stayed around for another 15 mins. looking for the doe. Got down to get the doe and came back up the hill and ran off another group coming to get acorns.Great morning.
Went yesterday morning. Ran more off in the dark. Had a nice 9pt at 5yds, up the hill and down wind. He caught me at the last of my draw and bounced out into the field where I could not get a shot. Won all the battles just lost the war on that one. Another great morning.

Awesome, Kieth!  Too bad about the nine point, but there is no need to rub it in our faces! ;D
Big A, maybe you should have someone call Kieth, and tell him he won a sweepstake, and he can pick up his new Lexus, in the morning, about a hundred miles from you........ ;D  Sounds like an excellent spot to hunt! 8)
