white oak pyramid
« on: January 21, 2011, 05:08:21 pm »
this is a white oak pyramid bow, walnut tips with a little curve to them, 68" ntn, 48# @29", bow has less than 1/2" set, but the recuved tips cancel that out, just a simple bow that shoots real nice, thank's, Bub

That's a nice bow. like the leather handle and the tips give the braced profile a sense of speed. good job

Well done piece of work.  Simple and to the point.  Hope it shoots as sweet as it looks!

Very impressive.  Didn't think White Oak would end up with so little set.  How wide is the bow at the fades and tips?

it's 1 7/8" @ the fades, just under 1/2" at the nocks, I've had pretty good luck with white oak, it's tough as nails, i've used it for backing on an epe d bow and a epe gullwing, no set on the d bow and all the bends held well on the gull,         bub

Nice bow! You should get a lot of miles out of that one.

Great work Bubby!!! I'm a big fan of walnut, but I haven't messed with white oak yet... plenty of red but no white.

Nice tiller!  I really like working with oak... got one coming up pretty soon myself.  As others have already said tiller looks great on yours.  Got it bookmarked for January BOM contest in a week or so.  :)

I want to build a White oak bow.  But always worried since reading in TBB about taking all this huge set.  But I guess your build shows no problem.  Very nice.
