osage stave other species
« on: March 03, 2011, 01:23:56 am »
I have a pretty good stave that I want to trade for other species of bow wood. I wouldn't call my stave seasoned,  more like on the way. It was cut feb. last year and split right after. its been out of the weather and sprayed with pesticide. I've actually got a few to trade. I'm looking for yew, elm, hophornbeam,... let me know what you've got.

I am trading for the walnut, but I want to wait on the locust for now. I already have some of that, but I will keep it in mind. Thanks.

Howdy,  I've got Ca bay, western juniper, Rocky mountain juniper ( slightly denser ERC type wood), and hazel sapling.   Don any of those sound interesting?    Ron

I have some american white elm, it has a slight angular snake to it though. I can get pics if you are interested. I haven't measured it, but I think it's about 64" long. It was cut last April and has been kept dry. I would call it seasoned.

Cp, Let me see if my hackberry trade works out. I don't want to trade all my staves.  ;)

Don't blame ya at all  ;)  I'd be saying the same thing. If you decide you would like a stave, just let me know. I'll probably have this stave for a while yet. I'm working on it's sister half right now so I probably won't tear into it for a year or so.
