Found some tabs.
« on: March 13, 2011, 07:06:13 pm »
Out on the plateau - some place called Balcones NW of Austin ::). Escaped from work one day out there and scored on a little splunkin trip. This stuff is pretty grainy and wants to step pretty bad if you don't rare back and hit it. Sure a little heat would do wonders for it. Anyway I had to take this peice on down to get rid of the stacks but will make a good tough blade being raw. Here's the sequence...

Super blade. Looks sharp
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intentions of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body. But rather to slide in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW WHAT A RIDE!!

Thanks guys! And yep Bob - I would compare it to.... hmmm, Pedernales maybe? Naw - this stuff is different. Perd is harder, this is graineir but not as tough in a way. I found the quarry where all the ancients works on their points and that stuff was almost solid white and a lot higher grade but was too far from the truck for me to haul it after hauling all this out and looking over my shoulder the whole time, hmm ::). Anyway, I'm content with what I got away with and will most likely never be back - here we go :).

Wow!  I looked at each picture carefully and as I scrolled down I kept saying to myself: "No way...No way!...NO WAY!"

VERY nice blade! :o

Must be terrible to live and work in a place where you can pick up a duke's mixture of material. I'll shed a tear for your misery ;D

Patrick: Ya know you crack me up sometimes ;D. I'm finding that this sort of thing is available all over the place if your out and about in the right place at the right time.. Anywho: thanks fellers - damn I wish I could make some of these knap ins around the country. by the way: I broke the next two. Breaks my heart but I'm afraid the ancients had the same problems :)..Here we go......
