My daughters horse/ A miricle occurred
« on: June 24, 2011, 11:29:25 am »
Easy, a big beautiful 14 year old geilding was dehydrated and got collic yesterda.  Vet stayed up all night with him and called this morning to let us know that he is being put down.  That horse means a great deal to my baby..

Very sorry to hear that. Animals can become as much a family member as the kids themselves some time. Ronnie
If we can't help each other what is the point of being here?

My condolences to your family and sadness for your daughter's loss.

I lost my horse Smokey as a young teen.

You all are in our prayers.

I'm sorry for your and your daughter's loss.  Was colic surgery not an option?

Thank you guys.. It means a lot.

Stretch, the vet said Easy would have to be taken to A&M for the surgery and the surgery starts at $5000 and could be as high as $10,000 or more.  We also didn't have insurance on him... Which would have covered surgery.  Just not feasible for us.  If it had been $5000, not feasible, but we would have made it happen.

He is still holding on and we are praying that her recovers.

Dang bud, we'll keep keeping you folks in our prayers this weekend.  I worked at a Youth Camp and had to put down my best friends horse, same diagnosis as yours but we were in the middle of a 5 day horse pack trip on the AT in Virgina.  Not a fun experience and I really hope Easy pulls through for you guys.

There is a vet in Lamesa, TX name Bo Brock who does colic surgery.  That's where the racehorses from Ruidoso Downs are usually taken.  If fact he operated on Toby Keith's racehorse a while back.  Here's his contact info.  It's worth giving him a call at least.

BTW, my wife is a DVM (small animal) that's how I know of him.
