Great bow! I love the simple D-bows, and you've got a real nice one there.

Thanks again everybody.  I too like simple bows.  This is one of the only laminated bows I've done but it was a very enjoyable project for sure.  To be a little more revealing, I had originally built the bow with a thin antler belly that failed.  That project had me really excited!  When I ended up with a short self bow with and 1 1/2-2" of set I knew it wasn't worth finishing unless I did something different.  I loved that stave so I'm glad it has been resurrected to the bow rack.  Joy is always happy with the bows I make here but I think I could certianly do better for an everyday shooter.  I have some Yew staves that have 'Joy's bows' written all over them.  She just had our little girl 3 months ago so I'm finally getting my roving partner back.  Soon I'll need to make a really little bow.

By the way--this little bow was intentionally made short enough to fit in the gun rack of my late F-150.  I was doing 'husband and wife gun rack bows' but never got around to getting mine done.

Badger--you're right about oceanspray.  You almost can't break it.

J.D. Very nice bow, and thread for that matter. Gotta love that tiller shot. I have always wanted to try ocean spray too.

Congrats on such a neat bow.  Ocean spray, huh? Holodiscus discolor  No way it would grow big enough around here in Western Montana.   Its in the rose family which is often a reliable source of bow woods.
Very nice and bookmarked for backed bow of the month of June.

Thanks guys,

Oceanspray grows fairly large around here.  This one was only about 7/8" in diameter but I've cut it up to 2 1/4".  It does grow slowly though.  I have a primo stave that I plan to make a heavy bow out of soon.

Thanks again,

Josh, its time to put a bow rack on the stroller.  ;) Do you take Joy roving on the beach, and tell her it is a long walk on the beach.  ;)  Justin

Thanks guys!

Justin--we do occasionally shoot on the beach but it tends to be so windy your arrows go all over the place. :o  The cedar stumps in the woods are better.
