Ugly rhyolite point
« on: July 26, 2011, 12:12:52 pm »
I haven't hit a rock in many months, but I run all the spiders out of my knapping bucket, tried to remember which end of the billet to swing, and did a little knapping over at Pat's this weekend. Got one that didn't break out of some nasty rhyolite. Pretty rough, but it's sharp and not too bad for the piece of rock it came from.  It's an oversized Hardaway, about 4" x2" or so.

Nice work. Thats would definitely go on an arrow.

Looks good to me son! I hear that rock is not real user friendly?

Speaking of chasing spiders, I have to run them out of my bucket on a daily basis. All recluses ta boot! Dang thangs are thick this year. May have to do some bombing in the shop before it cools off.
