Osage bow
« on: October 16, 2011, 01:23:06 am »
Hey y'all, I have not posted a bow since March, due to a lack of time ,but have been building a little, and have 5 new bows ready .I'll try to get them up in the next couple of weeks. This is the "payback bow" for a friend who let me cut some wood on his property back in February. I usually age osage a year, but with our record breaking temps in Texas this summer, and very low humidity,I decided to try a few, mainly splinters off of good staves to use as test bows. This one came out of a deflexed stave.I did'nt want to get to aggressive with the reflex,(even though it had'nt lost any weight in over a month),so I just flipped the tips a little. It has some unique red stripes down the back, and is very smooth, both drawing and shooting, and suprisingly fast.  It's 65 3/8" tip to tip,64" nock to nock. 1 1/4" at fades with an even taper 3/8" tips. 55#@28" . Cane grip, with glued on osage arrow rest.8 coats tru-oil. God Bless

Handsome bow.
In the second pic, I like the deflex in the field matching the curve of the bow ;)

Good work!  Nice bow!
Talking trees. What do trees have to talk about, hmm... except the consistency of squirrel droppings?
