Wood Hunting North Central Texas

Hello All,

Cipriano and I made a pretty darn nice wood haul ranging between Stephenville and Keene in North Central Texas.

We found a bit of Red Elm, ERC, and Osage...
But we didn't cut no damn Oak Trees Down... :)
That long sapling turned out to have thorns on it Cipriano, so I'm guessing that rules out Live Oak.

And you got to post the pony pics and the flea market look pic too so they get a 'feel' of the situacion....

Nice haul.  Looks like you guys had a good time too. 

Almost looks like you caught Cipriano taking a bathroom break. :o

Cipriano was just getting up, this was the only shot I had of him looking at the camera.

Y'all are so funny >:(

Gus got to the house bright and early.  We drove to a mom and pap Mexican restaurant for breakfast burritos.  Diego was telling Gus about this rabbit hunting exploits.. Well I wanted Gus to get the full effect.. I teach 1st grade... I can not say that enough because it has shaped how I do many many things.  Most things I do I have to model.  Even when I am not at school I model and act things out. 

Well we were in the drive-thru and Diego's BB gun was in the front and I proceeded to demonstrate to Gus how Diego got his rabbit.  The MAJOR problem with that is that.....

Let's just say that I looked over at Gus as I was modeling how I handed Diego the gun once he got out of the back seat, but Gus had turned white, well whiter and his mouth was open and he was not saying a word.  That is when I realized what I was doing.. There was a truck behind us and they had a bewildered look on their face.  I think the saving grace was that the lady that took our order had walked to the back part of the restaurant. 

I told Gus teaching 1st grade has shaped me into modeling everything I do.....

I wasn't sure if maybe Cipriano had forgotten his wallet at home, or perhaps this was
some sort of PA initiation that I hadn't read about in the Bylines when becoming a member...

When Cipriano started waiving that BB gun out of the driver's side window, I wasn't sure whether to duck our let out a Wild Comanche War Whoop!
Gotta say I was glad we weren't buying breakfast in Houston,
I was nearly unarmed with only a pocket knife, a belt knife, two boot knives, 
my tomahawk, a machete, some brass knuckles  and a bolo...
Had I known we were gonna Take breakfast instead of Buy it, I'd have come better prepared.

Man those were some GOOD Breakfast Burritos.  :)

As to the wood, Yes Sir, looks like some pretty nice stuff.
Have half the Osage Log split out so far, four staves, no belly splits do to some wander in the trees early days.
But Good Solid Staves none the less.

Have a couple Osage Saplings that are nice, straight and pretty.

The Elm looks very nice.
Guess I will split it with the Skill Saw.

Too early to tell about the ERC, but it smells lovely.

Oh and Cipriano, looks like we did not "Cut No Damn Oak Tree!"...  ;D
That sapling that we thought was an oak has thorns on it.

It was a Good Time and the weather was quite nice.
And no one got arrested.
