Fish, I haven't had much luck w/ tiles, but my kids broke a porceline bowl the other day and it knapped like nobodies business.  Just white porceline, like a plate bottom.  I really liked it.  Not too primitive, but worked great when material was in short supply.

I just got back from New Hampshire and Maine a couple of weeks ago and the scenery is breathtaking, but the knappable rock, although there is no shortage of rock, is as far as I can tell non-existant.  I went to the New Hampshire Museum in Concord and most of the stone tools were very crudely knapped specimens due to the poor material.  I suspect the better lookig specimens were made of imported rock.  Really enjoyed the museum.  It is a good stop for anybody visiting the area.  My wife's family are all New Englanders, so I go up at least once a year.  I'm  already looking forward to my next trip.

I want to thank you for your super informative videos on indirect precussion.  They have advanced my flintknapping enormously.  Pieces of stone in my junk bucket that I used to throw away are now being turned into nice points thanks to your techniques.  Enjoyed your new Abo vids also, although I need to improve my less than Abo work before advancing to the more difficult real Abo approach.  Thanks again for your vids.

I'm in Wilmington, NC. North Carolina is just as famous for lack of rock. I think "NC" actually stands for "No Chert." My poor postal carriers lug imported boxes of stone to my door, cursing my name as they herniate.
