Redesigning my fav R/D bow . . . Thougths?
« on: March 02, 2012, 08:52:46 pm »
I'm thinking of converting my R/D bow that I struggled so hard to get right to a Tri-Lam.  That would allow me to be creative with the wood combinations in the limbs also.  Pluss I want to try one with bamboo under the bamboo backing.

Then I got to thinking.  I haven't made a Recurve yet and I saw on here a build along where a guy did the bending by splicing the bent section and bending the thin splices then regluing them.  I kinda like that.  It's another chance to mix up the woods.

what do you guys think?

I love those couple of YEW flat bows that have come up recently by Gordon and Keenan.  I just can't afford Yew right now or the time.  I think about dong a maple Ipe and Bamboo backing version.  "Econo Yew".
