The more I look at yours cowboy and the pictures on google I hate the shape I made it. Haha. I like the material tho. Grainy but easy to flake. As for the fluting, bah...I just end up with chunky bases a lot and get forced to to flute them whether I wanted to or not, so the practice was not intentional. Besides I rarely even isolate...just make a continuous platform and swing that antler as quick as I can.

Here is my attempt. ;) It took multiple attempts at fluting with indirect. Not to bad for my first one. I will have to make a few more. The next one I will try to put it on a diet.

That is not bad! Very good as a matter of fact :). I've always had indirect stored in the memory banks, may give her a whirl.

LOL, don,t be so harsh on yourself.
Your points are most likely well within the Crowfield culture.
Just think that a big one was only 2.5 inches and with resharpening and all---

I really dig that middle one stringman!

Had to fix the shape of that first one, and also just knocked out this dacite one.

Yessir, Paul, that's been one of my very best trades I made here on PA and I can't even remember who it came from.  :-\

Thanks Nate and bowmo. Those are 2 fine examples!
