Ah, thanks Patrick. At least we hope they are!
Dalton/ Hardaway are my favorite projectile enigmas.
For some reason I think there are way to many huge
pristine Daltons running around for that era.
Although they do originate right where some of the best
 material is found. Do you know of a Texas equivalent?

Zuma, the pictures came from lithiccastinglab and arrowheadology.  I wish I could personally find some, but that option is out of my league right now.   ;D  There are certainly a lot of very large Daltons being shown, and I don't trust them all, that's for sure.  The only ones I trust are from the caches found in Missouri.  The picture below is the cache of 13 points from Scott County, MO.  The first two pictures above (in reply #1134)  are from that cache.

Texas has Daltons and similar types like Golondrina and Barber.  They are generally smaller than the Missouri types.  I don't have many pictures of Texas Daltons that I trust but there's a couple under the cache picture.

Well, here's my feeble attempt from today, and two others dinkers I made after it. I couldn't seem to pattern it to save my life, not with out losing all my width anyway. Probably should have heated it, that or my Ishi stick game was off today. At least the size is about right at 5 and half inches long.

There are only a few who can make the type
Daltons Patrick posted. Not sure there were to many
created by aboriginals. I think what we are doing
exceeds at least the normal run of the mill Dalton.

Just one more picture from the actual Sloan site in Arkansas.  You will notice that the "fancy" flaking is only on one side of each face (left).  This is definitely much easier to accomplish than trying to put the fancy flaking on both sides of each face and is completely authentic.  I think I'm going to attempt one of these...

 Looking at a lot of those examples Patrick, it looks like; just make an unfluted clovis, don't pick your deltas, grind the sides of the base good, voila!

Cowboy, I would have always thought that Clovis folks
just morphed into the Dalton tradition.
Problem is-- There is no archaeological evidence for it.
Well that I can find.
Really weird. BTW Sloan is/was the name of the property owner
where the dig was. They most likely picked the best pieces
and named them after Mr. Sloan.
