White Pine Shafts
« on: June 04, 2012, 12:58:14 am »
Some have posted here & elsewhere that white pine makes a good shaft. I have white pines in my yard & notice a handful of fairly straight limbs, from about 1/4 to 1/2 thick or more. The seem a little too limber though. If I cut and season them, would they stiffen up a little? Would they be as stiff as the same size dowel cut from the trunk?

With white pine you want wood from the trunk and not branches.
