This year's ammo
« on: September 28, 2012, 08:29:18 pm »
Here's my ammo for opening day tomorrow.  They're talking rain so all this might be for naught, but we'll think positive.  The points are mine, shafts and feathers from Tattoo Dave.  I hate to straighten cane so thanks a ton Dave!

I'm trying 2 different batches of pine pitch, one very black and the other a pretty brown.

Thanks guys.  I hope I get the chance Rich.  Now they're calling for a NE wind tomorrow, the only thing worse would be straight north or northwest.  I may have to bag the hunt and wait for better wind.  I've got a ground blind set up for hog hunting that would be better, but still not great.  I am 16' up, I guess there'd be a slim chance the wind would go over and past the spot I'm hunting...nah that'd never happen. ::)

John, it is fun to compare last years points and this years.  These are at least similar in weight and shape...and thin enough to haft on to a cane shaft.  Progress is slow, but looking back, there thankfully was some progress.

Gorgeous arrows.  After seeing those points, I am convinced that I have to teach myself how to knapp this winter.

Thanks Dave, those arrows are great!  Hoping the rain quits so I can try tomorrow afternoon.

Go for it Jon.  Just keep in mind that knapping is reallly addictive!  Very fun too. :)  Fortunately, not everybody is as slow a learner as I've been.  I'm going on 18 months or so since I started.
