Huzzah! from down here in Uruguay
« on: November 04, 2012, 10:33:51 pm »
Ok, so...My name's Santiago Castro Massaferro, uruguayan 18 year old male.
I've always had that twitchy little thing about medieval things (I like to forge swords, weave chainmails, et cetera) and I've been making ''bows'' since I was a little kid (though they were nothing more than bent bamboo sticks xD), until I reciently watched a   video in YouTube about a certain bowyer named Ed Scott. That flipped me out of  , and it begun the growth of an obsession with bows.
Ok, I think that would be all. See you around :D

I wouldn't know how to tell. I don't know much about woods. Im learning, though xD. What I can tell for sure is that there is a lot of eucalyptus (not native, obviously). Dang multinational paper companies cut a great deal of our autochthonous trees (guayubirá, Jacarandá, etc.) and planted those soil-destroyers.

Welcome to the addiction.  If you spend a little time reading up on the Build-Alongs, you will have quite a bit of information to digest.  But you can read every last work on the subject and know next to nothing about making a bow.  The real learning begins when you start making sawdust and shavings.

Welcome, indeed.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.
