What jig/feathers/knocks does everyone use?
« on: January 21, 2013, 11:50:18 am »
What kind of jig do you guys use to fletch your arrows? Anyone ever try the Arizona Ez Fletch?

Where do you order your feathers, etc?

cartel fletching jig, its cheap and it works

trueflight feathers preferably 4 or 5 inch shield

no particulair nock

saunders glue
Iron rusts from disuse, water loses its purity from stagnation... even so does inaction sap the vigor of the mind.

I made my fletching jig myself, from pieces of poplar with a clamp made of brass sheets glued to stationary clips.  I buy full length feathers from thelongbowshop or local goose farms, and I only use self nocks.  Easier, cheaper, more traditional  :)

I just bought myself a right helical jig from basspro. From the company bohning. I was going to buy feathers from them but they are like 25 for 50. Figured I could get better ones somewhere else too.

I use the bohning jig from bass pro.  I get my feathers from dead turkeys  ;D   And I use self nocks.

have an old blitz jig and a newish martin one
(the martin is the black plastic one-the same as numerous-all made same place-china-marketed under numerous names)
not a lick of difference really
and with fletch tape not really any need for a jig...
feathers i cut/grind my own turkey goose peacock whatever i can get my hands on that are legal
nocks, same, whatever is cheapest or just cut self nocks.....

I like the eastern two fletch and selfnocks !No glue needed!
Feathers show up on my back porch every spring after turkey season ! Folks around here just know what I like !
I do use some epoxy for tips .
Have fun !!

I use fiddler's fletching jig which I came up with many years ago and posted on this site. Check out my post on PrimitiveWays,   http://www.primitiveways.com/fletching_jig.html , faster than glueing. I also use  self nocks,
they never brake in the cold like plastic nocks  cheers fiddler49

I used to use trueflight feathers, bohning classic nocks and my jo-jan fletching jig. Switched from glue to tape, then I started grinding and chopping my own feathers, then tying feathers on, then switched to eastern two fletch. (See the de-evolution pattern here?) I'm still using plastic nocks, but only because they're easier to see.
