Where oh Where do you guys get'cher turkey feathers from. I talked to a local butcher shop and they said, they are ruined when they get through with them. I will contact more farms, but they are apprehensive in dealing with a Boywer looking for Freebies...... :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

Spring is coming up so be sure to ask your turkey hunting buddies to save the wings for you. They should be nice size and barred unlike many farm turkeys too!

Goose feathers also work well and you can get a lifetime supply in one season if you have any friends who actively goose hunt.

As to where I get mine... 3 rivers.   ;)

I get mine from turkey hunters.  If I'm off work I'll go hang out at the local check in station with some finished arrows and some side cutters  ;D

Same as Osage,I have all my buddies save the wings for me and tail fans if they don't want them,usually get 40 or 50 pairs a year. Most Turkey hunters don't want or use them so all you have to do is ask in most cases.  :) Then I just clip the feathers off and put them in ammo box's fogged with bug spray for safe keeping.  :)

put an ad on craigslist. i have had three responses from individuals who raise turkeys and received some nice feathers from them when they butcher or a coon gets one. i have given each person a nice nna style arrow to hang on their wall.

Friends and family save them for me during turkey season. In the spring if you know of a pond or park where flocks of geese hang out you can get pick up a lot of goose feathers from thr ground while they are molting.

Be carefull with the roadkill.  A conservation officer told me it was illegal to take any part of a roadkill animal with out a permit.  Seems a bit ridiculous you can't snag a few turkey feathers.

Can't touch a road kill turkey in Ohio. Deer you can get legally with a special permit. No permit for turkey. What a waste!

Yes we do Kevin.  If you hit it you can take it, or give it to teh next person that comes along, but if its left on the side of the road, it is illegal in NC to take it.
