black cherry for first time self bow?

is black cherry a good wood for  my first bow or  and is any one from around ashboro  North Carolina that  i could get some pointers from?

This should be posted in "bows" perhaps a moderator will move it.
bud BC is ok, pretty good in compression(belly) but not so good in tension(back), my advice would be to back it
with linen, silk, burlap etc. or another wood hickory, maple, ash good luck and welcome to the site.

Moved this up here to the bows forum for you. BC will make a bow, but you should have some better woods around you, such as hickory, white ash, hop hornbeam, elm, mulberry, etc.
