alaska yellow ceader bow ?

morning guys   iv got a few qustions for ya  i talked to a good friend in alaska the other day  he told me he has some butiful alaska yellow ceader blanks i can have,,  so my qustion is  have any of you ever tryed this wood ?? i dunno how to go about it im thinkin  this would be about like workin with western red ceader?,,, i dunno  what to do im thinkin to try it back it with hickory or bamboo   also  is  it slimar to yew ?  how about hardness softness   thanks i appricate it

Hi Bull. I want to start off by saying hopefully someone with more experience will chime in here, but my understanding of alaskan yellow cedar is that it's great for arrow's, but too weak for bows. I know for me Given an opportunity I would still get the staves and try one. If it doesn't work then cut up the rest for arrows. Either way you win.
