Atlatl alslmost finished ( Its finished)
« on: September 13, 2013, 09:16:30 pm »
Well heres an atlatl made of cherry with a snakeskin and with a leather and hemp handle wrap. All i need to do is put an antler point on and a leather thong to go around the wrist so it doesn't accidentally get thrown and its finished.

No i didnt sinew it because of two reasons: one is i dont have anymore sinew and second i didnt know if it would make any difference or not.

Can't wait to see it finished and a couple of darts with it!  Love your work, McGinnis!

Thanks JW, i have bamboo i can use for darts but im gonna try some autumn olive branches as the grow fairly straight and usually aren't too large of a diameter. Ive often wondered if they would make good useable arrows or darts so i cut some last winter and think im gonna try to give them a go.

Looks awesome with that skin on there.  I hope your spur is angled enough to keep a dart on the thrower.  That's a great idea w/ the skin, I'd like to try that myself.  Thanks for the idea!!  ;) dp
