I do the second serving that closes the loops with the string under around 150 lb tension, so it doesn't twist when I do that one. It does twist the string a bit when I do the first servings. I am figuring this is where it is happening. I wish I could think of a jig that could tension the string enough for it not to twist for the first serving, like something with springs or something... Well I guess you guys don't seem to mind, maybe I should just join the club...  ;D

Does the mere thought of a bowstring out in the garage with that twist keep you up at night, Dr. Sheldon Cooper?  If that is the case, I could show you a photo of a shoebox of unsorted extra bowstrings that is positively a KNOTTED MESS that would leave you unable to eat spaghetti for the rest of your life.

Not trying to beat this post to death...Here's a few pics of what's going on due to the string jig twisting the string on every pass it makes around. It's what happens upon reverse twisting...

Haha, yeah, you would figure a normal person would be able to figure these things out on their own. You wanna see something real funny, you should watch me try to figure out whats wrong with my van,  :).

He told me he has it narrowed down to the 8-track player or else the shag carpeting.

My advice is ........ it doesn't matter one bit and it's much better for the string to be like that than not in my eyes. Tight serving on these strings is a must.

Hmm, okee dokey. So I should probably serve the string a bit looser?

Yep ;)

Absolutely NOT! If you serve it 'looser' the serving will migrate all over the place, leaving gaps of bare string in the loop. Obviously, this is not good. 90% of the commercially made endless loop strings I've purchased for recurves have a twist in the loop. It usually disappears under tension when the bow is braced.

I used to make a lot of endless loops, and don't recall every having a problem with twist. I notice that my loops were much smaller than the ones you're making, so that might be why.
