New Recurve Form

With All the Short Bows And Static Curce Bows being posted lately...
It got me itching to build some Short Curvy Bows.
And in thinking on my old Recurve form found it lacking in design.

So I built a New Form yesterday evening.

2x6 construction.
20 inches over all.
With a side Chuck so I can mount it horizontally in my vice,  now I won't have problems getting a bow in it.
3.5 inch diameter on one end,  4.5 inch in the other.
2.5 inch diameter holes for clamps.
The Chuck is glued on with TB2 and backed up with 3 two and a half inch wood screws.

I have several bows in process I'll be testing on it in the near future.

Nice job Gussy ol'boy. Id suggest a bit longer next time. It assures better alignment the first time around because you have more limb you can control. You dig? Otherwise, its fancier and nicer than my old junker and Im jealous!

Thanks for the comments Fellas...
This form is a few inches longer than my other Recurve form.

I have a couple of Gary Davis inspired Full Length forms that I built over the past two years.
And while they are Nice, I've found that with my limited work space, they are more hindrance than help.

I find that I have been doing more Free Style/Hand corrections than any other.
Also been using a Narrow Toasting Board as described by Mr. St Louis in his chapter on Heat Treating, to set my reflex profile.

Actually I combined Gary Davis's dimensions with Mr. St Louis's Toasting Board idea to lay out my Toasting Board. Its a single limb form, very Light and Handy.

In any event you can bet that once I get into a Real Shop I'll be building more Forms...
And I have already thought of changes that will make my next Recurve Form work Better...
Flipping one end over should help with the Length Issue.

So Longer IS Better...    >:D
