Rock Run (kind of)
« on: March 02, 2014, 01:25:40 pm »
I'm out in west Texas(North of Pecos) and will either be going through Junction or San Angelo on the way home, can't decide.  I'm not asking for any secret locations for stone or to get a truck full. Just somewhere to stop and get out of the truck for a few minutes and pick up a few pieces of local stone to try. Any ideas? I imagine I will look for creek or river access as I cross them but other than that I'm at a loss.
Thanks,
Matt

You can't throw a rock in San Angelo without it hitting some flint.  It shouldn't be hard to find.

Road cuts west of Angelo before you get to big lake are loaded but be darned if I could figure how to get them. If you go out that way look in the hills. Junction area, I would hit the creek crossing. Good luck.
When you come upon a track or trail you do not know, follow it to the point of knowing.
